The “Meck” is an historic turn of the century inn, just 40 minutes from Halifax and two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, in the heart of the charming village of Chester.
Sailing and rum runs through the veins of the locals here.
My name is Suzi, and I’ll be your host. I trained at London Cordon Bleu thinking if nothing else at least I won’t eat Kraft dinner the rest of my life. Breakfast here is healthy and eclectic. Depending on your mood you may choose to have it served at the large harvest table amidst the lively dialogue or take it outside on the back deck.
The atmosphere at the Inn is decidedly casual. The upper and lower decks beckon for afternoon cocktails. The living room is perfect for fireside chats, scrabble, or perusing magazines. Perhaps grab a book from the library and settle in for the night.
The cookie jar is always full.
Welcome to The Mecklenburgh
THE ROOMS
There are four guest rooms, all with private bath. Three have clawfoot tubs with shower, one has shower only.
The rooms are large and bright; most have sofas and distant water views depending on how tall you are. The wide pine flooring has been restored to its original state. All rooms have Frette bathrobes, reading material to suit every taste, Lindt chocolates and a wide assortment of thoughtful amenities. The mattresses are pillow top and have down duvets with crisp line-dried Frette linens and local quilts.
